In the reporting of the tragedy in Orlando, we have heard it described as the largest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Let us not forget Red Summer of 1919 with the Elaine Massacre and more across the U.S., The 1910 Slocum Massacre: An Act of Genocide in East Texas, Tulsa, and many more. And there are also the military mass shootings at Wounded Knee, the Sand Creek massacre, the Battle of Blair Mountain, and more. This is not to diminish in any way the horror and senselessness of the massacre in Orlando. It isn't. It's about time to look for truth in our history and put a stop to killing each other."
